Guide To Makeup Tattoos

Makeup Tattoos

Cosmetic tattooing is where a tattoo is used to give the impression of freshly done makeup. Makeup tattoos are commonly used for eyebrows (microblading) but can be used elsewhere on the face and body. Here is a brief guide to some of the most common cosmetic make up tattoo types from eyeliner to covering up scar tissue.

Permanent Eyeliner

Tattooed eyeliner is becoming more popular. This permanent makeup involves adding either black or brown ink to the eyelash line to give the impression of eye makeup. It can either be made to look like eyeliner or even give the appearance of fuller lashes if the tattoo ink is placed properly.

Lip Blushing

Lip blushing is a popular treatment for people who lack natural pigmentation in their lips, would like to enhance their lips’ natural shape, or add fullness. Lip blushing tattooing includes lining and filling the lips with a colour bespoke to the individual. There is little to no downtime afterwards, minimal discomfort and the procedure can be done in as few as two or three visits. Sun exposure and exfoliants mean that lip blushing lasts between one to two years before a touch-up is needed.

Scar Camouflage

Cosmetic tattoos are not limited to the face: scar camouflage is a service offered by most cosmetic tattooing studios. If you suffer from scarring or areas of skin with lost pigmentation, then a custom-matched pigment can often be used to carefully blend it into the surrounding skin. Like most cosmetic tattoos, scar camouflage tattooing is considered to be permanent, but will occasionally require a touch-up as scar tissue can have difficulty retaining pigment.
