Ruth’s love affair with beauty began when she was 14 years old; she visited a local nail salon with her Mum who bought her a Gift Voucher for a Manicure one Christmas. In the trips that followed and a two week work placement at the same salon organised through High School – she was hooked!
By 1997, she was enrolled in a 2 year NVQ Course at Hugh Baird College studying the basic principles and techniques of Beauty Therapy and Salon Management which led to NVQ Levels 1,2 & 3 accreditation. Ruth’s passion for learning has never stopped; she self funded and passed a nail course with The Northern School of Beauty whilst studying for her NVQ’s and several years later passed a 2 week residential course with the College of Foot Health Practitioners to become a qualified practitioner. She has continued to upgrade and extend her knowledge – taking advantage of tutorials and classes with numerous suppliers and manufacturers over the years.
However, by far Ruth’s greatest passion has been building and serving the local community of Maghull and surrounding areas. When she started Beauty by Ruth in 2000, her ambition was to create ‘Maghull’s one stop beauty shop’ practicing natural beauty techniques in a relaxed friendly environment; this ambition is still true today 15 years later.
