What Is Eyebrow Tattooing?
Eyebrows!! We’ve gone from thick to thin and back to thick again in the space of twenty years. The beauty world is currently obsessed with big, bold brows, like Lily Collins’. But maintaining a luxurious set of eyebrows can mean investing in a range of pricey powders and potions. There is an alternative, though, and that is eyebrow tattooing which is also called microblading.
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup that is used to fill in and define eyebrows. A certified expert uses a pen-like blade that has between 12 and 15 tiny “microneedles” to make a number of tiny incisions along your brows, in the shape of hairs. These small cuts only actually pierce the very top layers of your skin, and a dye or pigment is added. The outcome? Natural-looking full eyebrows.
It’s not painful, but you will feel a slight pinch, in much the same way as eyebrow threading. The treatment generally lasts about a month before a touch-up is required. Microblading can help those with overwaxed or over-plucked brows, very light blonde brows and those who would like to save some time in the morning by not having to shape their eyebrows.
